Chris Wild, who was in the system as a child, has warned of the dangers care leavers face (Picture: Chris Wild/Natalya Chagrin) A care home manager has warned teenagers are being put at risk of gangs and predators in unregulated accommodation, after figures revealed thousands of vulnerable care leavers are moved too far from home. Chris Wild, 39, who was physically abused in care as a child, told that some private providers are 'profiting off kids' in a 'cattle market' bidding system which needs to be scrapped. He raised concerns that a lack of funding has left overstretched councils with insufficient options in the area, meaning thousands of care leavers end up in privately run children's homes where it is 'near impossible' to properly safeguard every property. Chris' comments come after a report called Pass the Parcel, by England's Children's Commissioner Anne Longfield, revealed around 30, 000 children are living 'out of area'. It said about 2, 000 are living at least 100 miles away and that vulnerable children are becoming isolated from family and friend support networks, putting them at greater risk of going missing.
The blast - which has caused up to $5. 2billion worth of damage - was so large it could be heard 110 miles across the sea in Cyprus. The explosion had one fifth the power of a nuclear bomb.
It can be a confusing and isolating time as many are forced to move out of children's homes before they are ready, with 14 per cent going on to sleep rough, says the charity. Boris Johnson's government has pledged £1. 5 billion for child and adult social services, along with a review into the system, but Chris – who takes care of 13 boys across two semi-independent homes – said authorities have 'completely lost control'. He added that the government needs to 'start from scratch' to ensure care homes have qualified support staff and every provider is meeting the required criteria. The father said: 'I go into homes and a lot of staff can't speak English or don't have any qualifications. They are putting them in the trust of vulnerable kids. Chris became homeless and got involved in crime after his father died (Picture: Natalya Chagrin/Chris Wild) 'They used to have it tight but now it's like a cattle market. They are profiting off kids. 'They only want kids who are worth the most – some have mental health needs but the support doesn't exist.
Thousands were injured and many died in a fireball chemical warehouse explosion in Beirut which flattened buildings, ripped people's clothes from their bodies, and damaged properties up to six miles away.
'They've lost control. This is why paedophiles and county line gangs can come to the house and then that person is gone. It's diabolical. ' Twin sisters 'killed themselves fearing police didn't believe sexual abuse claims' Chris said many teenagers who come into his care 'just rock up on our door step alone with a black bin bag' and have no idea where they are. He added that 'all come with their own trauma', with many being refugees or having come from gangs. The keynote speaker and youth ambassador ended up in care in West Yorkshire at the age of 12 after his dad died of a rare case of chicken pox. He described his upbringing as a happy, 'normal, working class' one but after his father's death his mum began heavily drinking and started dating a man who Chris claimed mistreated them. Chris was put into care at 12 but was severely beaten in his children's home (Picture: Chris Wild) He started couch surfing and put his trust in local older boys who encouraged him to carry out burglaries and got him hooked on drugs and cigarettes.
